The Provincial Government of Samar, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture โ Regional Field Office 8, marks a new milestone in sustainable agriculture with the MOU Signing and Ceremonial Turnover of Interventions for the Heirloom Rice Seed Development and Commercialization Project.
This initiative aims to boost productivity and profitability of the Kalinayan, Samarโs very own heirloom upland rice known for its aroma, quality, and distinct red-pink grains. Through capacity building for 270 farmers, establishment of learning fields, creation of community seed banks, and development of local enterprises, the project paves the way for a stronger and more resilient upland rice industry.
Together, we are cultivating not just rice, but the future of Samarโs farming communities, rooted in heritage, grown with innovation, and harvested with pride.
