Over 2,520 learners and 2,520 parents across the Province of Samar were reached through the successful 20-day rollout of the Tara, Basa Tutoring Program in SAMAR β a flagship initiative of the Department of Social Welfare and Development – DSWD under the leadership of Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
With the strong support of Governor Ann Tan and the Province of Samar, the program was implemented across 14 municipalities and cities, including Calbayog City, Catbalogan City, Matuguinao, Sta. Margarita, San Jorge, Calbiga, Hinabangan, Jiabong, Paranas, Pinabacdao, Villareal, Sta. Rita, Basey, and Marabut. A total of 504 student-tutors and 252 YDWs from Samar State University (SSU) and Northwest Samar State University (NWSSU) brought the program to life in each community.
The Province of Samar extends its heartfelt gratitude to Secretary REX Gatchalian for expanding Tara, Basa! and making it possible for the program to reach the Province of Samar.
Sincere thanks also go to Samar State University, Northwest Samar State University, and the DepEd Philippines for their committed support, and to the SIRAK Coordinators for their dedicated monitoring and field coordination throughout the program.
