CATBALOGAN CITY, SAMAR – Building on the rollout of its first food crawl circuit in 2025, the Provincial Government of Samar, in partnership with the City Government of Catbalogan, will officially launch the “Secret Kitchens of Samar (SKOS) Food Crawl: Flavors of Catbalogan” on April 30, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Samar FoodSpark.

The Catbalogan leg marks the second installation of the SKOS Food Crawl series, following the pioneering Sta. Rita–Basey–Marabut Food Crawl, which introduced a new way of experiencing Samar through curated culinary trails.

As a flagship initiative under the Spark Samar Development Agenda, the SKOS Food Crawl transforms local cuisine into immersive tourism products, linking food, culture, and place into a unified visitor experience.

Anchored on the internationally awarded Secret Kitchens of Samar brand, the Catbalogan food crawl presents a curated “flavor itinerary” featuring the city’s signature dishes, from tamalos and tahong barbecue to tinolang isda, halo-halo, and local delicacies, woven into a story of heritage, community, and identity.

Governor Sharee Ann Tan highlighted the growing momentum of Samar’s gastronomy-driven tourism strategy:

“From our first food crawl circuit to this second installation in Catbalogan, we are building a movement—one that transforms our local flavors into engines of growth and pride for every Samarnon.”

The launch will convene local chefs, food producers, tourism stakeholders, and development partners, highlighting the role of gastronomy in expanding tourism circuits, strengthening local enterprises, and creating inclusive economic opportunities.

Designed as a scalable model, the SKOS Food Crawl will continue to roll out across key destinations in the province, reinforcing Samar’s position as an emerging culinary destination in the Philippines.

As the province continues to gain international recognition for its culinary heritage, Samar invites locals and visitors alike to rediscover its flavors—one crawl at a time.
