CATBALOGAN CITY, SAMAR — Strengthening its commitment to quality and accessible education, Samar Governor Sharee Ann Tan met with Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara to discuss key programs and initiatives aimed at advancing the education sector in the province.
The meeting highlighted Samar’s priority education agenda, including support for learners, teachers, and schools across the province. Central to the discussion was the need to continuously improve learning environments and expand access to education, particularly in underserved and geographically isolated communities.
As a significant outcome of the engagement, the Provincial Government of Samar and the Department of Education formalized their collaboration for the implementation of various infrastructure projects, particularly the construction of additional school buildings across the province. These projects are expected to help address classroom shortages, decongest existing facilities, and create more conducive spaces for teaching and learning.
Governor Tan expressed her gratitude for Secretary Angara’s continued support, emphasizing his longstanding partnership with Samar.
“Secretary Angara has always been a strong partner in the development of Samar, from his time in the Senate to now as Secretary of Education. His commitment to our province has translated into meaningful programs and tangible support for our learners and educators,” the Governor said.
For his part, Secretary Angara reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to strengthening education systems in the provinces, highlighting the importance of collaboration with local government units in delivering responsive and inclusive education services.
