
PINABACDAO, SAMAR – April 15, 2026 – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally visited the Municipality of Pinabacdao, Samar to assess the on-ground implementation of the Walang Gutom Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), as part of a Presidential audit and monitoring of key social protection initiatives.
The President was warmly received by Governor Sharee Ann Tan and Pinabacdao Mayor Via Mabag, alongside local officials and community stakeholders, who welcomed the national government’s continued focus on addressing hunger and food insecurity in vulnerable communities.
During the visit, President Marcos conducted an on-site inspection of program beneficiaries and implementation mechanisms, engaging directly with local residents to understand the program’s impact and delivery at the grassroots level. The activity forms part of the administration’s broader effort to ensure that flagship anti-hunger interventions are effectively reaching intended beneficiaries and achieving meaningful outcomes.
Governor Tan emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between national agencies and local government units in ensuring the success of programs like Walang Gutom, noting that Samar remains committed to supporting initiatives that uplift the welfare of its constituents.


Mayor Mabag likewise expressed gratitude for the President’s visit, underscoring that national attention to local conditions helps strengthen implementation and responsiveness of government services.
The Walang Gutom Program is among the priority interventions of the DSWD aimed at reducing involuntary hunger and improving food security among low-income households across the country.
The visit highlights the administration’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and responsive governance, bringing national leadership closer to communities and ensuring that no Filipino is left behind.
