The Provincial Department of Health Office in collaboration with Provincial Health Office Samar and PIA Samar gathered local media practitioners on December 3, 2025, at M Grand Royale Resort in Catbalogan City for the Media Sensitivity Reporting on HIV/AIDS Training with the theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response.”
The one-day training equipped journalists with accurate, stigma-free, and compassionate methods for reporting on HIV through discussions of current statistics, program updates, ethical storytelling, privacy and consent, and the vital role of the media in normalizing HIV prevention and treatment.
Resource speakers from the DOH, the Provincial Health Office, and IDEALS, Inc. led the sessions, emphasizing the importance of responsible communication in upholding human dignity, protecting people living with HIV (PLHIV), and fostering an informed, empathetic community.
