The Provincial Government of Samar solemnly commemorated the 127th anniversary of Philippine Independence with a Flag Raising and Wreath Laying Ceremony held on June 12, 2025, at the Provincial Capitol Grounds in Catbalogan City.

Board Member Fe Tan-Arcales delivered the Independence Day message on behalf of Governor Sharee Ann Tan, emphasizing that, β€œTrue independence is not merely the absence of colonial rule, but the presence of justice, equality, and opportunity for all.” She urged everyone to honor the legacy of the nation’s heroes by embodying patriotism and a shared sense of civic responsibility.

Representing Vice Governor Arnold V. Tan, Board Member Beethoven Bermejo highlighted the significance of the occasion. He remarked that June 12 stands as a solemn reminder of the courage and sacrifice of the country’s forefathers in securing the freedom enjoyed today. β€œThe bravery, sacrifice, and struggles of our heroes are not mere moments in history, but rather a living legacy that demands our continued commitment to nation-building, justice, and unity.”

As a tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes, the Philippine Army rendered a 21-gun salute during the wreath-laying ceremony, serving as a powerful gesture of remembrance and national pride.
